CERT Basic Training Course in October

The purpose of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Basic Training is to provide the individuals who complete this course with the basic skills that they will need to respond to their community’s immediate needs in the aftermath of a disaster, when emergency services are not immediately available. By working together, CERT members can assist in saving lives and protecting property using the basic techniques in this course. The target audience for this course is individuals who desire the skills and knowledge required to prepare for and respond to a disaster. This is a 15-hour class and will be delivered over several days. We welcome individuals of all abilities.

Topics covered include disaster preparedness, CERT incident command structure, emergency first aid and triage, minor fire suppression and utility controls, search and rescue including cribbing, disaster psychology, and terrorism and CERT. Participants will receive a comprehensive manual. The training includes classroom instruction, case studies and exercises, and hands-on practice. Additional follow-up training on various other topics is available monthly.

CERT Basic Training Course will be held in Lenoir, NC on the following dates. You must attend each day.

October 9, 10, 12, 16, 6:00-9:00 pm

October 14, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

LOCATION:  3rd floor training room, Caldwell County Health and Human Services Building, 2345 Morganton Blvd SW, Lenoir, NC. There is no charge for this training.
