The Basic CERT class members learned about fire suppression and utility controls Tuesday night. They practiced with fire extinguishers to learn safety and the P.A.S.S. method–Pull, Aim, Squeeze, and Sweep.
The second part of the class was a group exercise in which two teams had to role play a CERT team in a gated community called into action during a weather disaster. Both teams exhibited good leadership skills, excellent documentation, and good experience using two-way radios. These are folks you would want living in your neighborhood during an emergency!
