The 2016 summer CERT Basic Training begins this Tuesday, July 19, 6:00-9:00 pm in Lenoir, NC. We have a few spaces left. Learn important, life-saving skills, meet new people, and have some fun!
CERT educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact Caldwell County and trains them in basic disaster response skills. CERT members can assist themselves, their families, and others in their neighborhood or workplace during emergencies.
Please share with family, friends, and organizations that may be interested in becoming Caldwell County CERT members. THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR TAKING THIS CLASS. Registrations should be sent to caldwellcountyCERT@gmail.com including name, email address, and phone number. This is also a good opportunity for those of you who would like to make-up classes you may have missed when you attended the course.
There is an Emergency Communications/Radio Use class on July 23 that is open to all Caldwell County CERT members. We are including it as part of the basic training for this CERT class since the timing worked out well. Let us know if you would like to register for the Communications/Radio class, July 23, 10:00 to 1:00. It will include information about the legal/licensing requirements of using various radios, practical use and purchase of GMRS (hand-held walkie-talkie type) radios, Viper radios used by Caldwell County first responders in emergencies, documentation for emergency radio communications, and a group practice exercise. There will be members of the Lenoir Amateur Radio Club available to answer questions you may have about HAM radios and licensing tests.
