Emergency Radio Communications Training

Tom Land

Instructor Tom Land

Caldwell County CERT members who have taken the basic CERT training are encouraged to attend the Emergency Radio Communications Training class to be held in July. There is no charge for this class.

The class will include regulations governing the use of handheld FRS/GMRS radios, range of hand-held radios, how to use them, radio protocol, and radio options.

We will also do a practice emergency “net” using radios to communicate among groups and headquarters, and basic record keeping.

Maria Hiller

CERT Volunteer Maria Hiller

The training will allow us to be  more effective and confident if we have to assist with radio communications in an emergency. Kenneth Teague, Thomas Land and others in the Lenoir Amateur Radio Club will provide instruction and answer your radio questions.

Participants are encouraged to bring their FRS/GMRS radios, if they have them. This is a good opportunity to ask questions and learn more if you are considering the purchase of hand-held radios.
