We had a great radio class on Saturday thanks to Tom Land, Josh Edwards, and Kenneth Teague. We also appreciated the snacks provided by Curt and Maria Hiller.
We learned some of the regulations governing the use of handheld FRS/GMRS radios. Some of the guys took a road trip with radios to demonstrate the distance that they could be used. We also did a practice emergency “net”, using the radios to communicate among groups and headquarters, and record keeping. The training will allow us to be more effective and confident if we have to assist with radio communications in an emergency. The Lenoir Amateur Radio Club members were very helpful.
